This isn’t your typical golf course or country club.

Expect the unexpected when you see it. If your primary focus is golf, we have a Par 72 course complete with a great restaurant for relaxing after a round.

You have other recreational interests? We also feature a beach club with casual waterfront dining overlooking Dickinson Bayou with hundreds of feet of floating boat docks, a lighted beach volleyball court, swimming pool, game room and more. If you, your date, spouse or family has diverse interests that include golf, boating, etc., we are the place for you. No Golf Widows here!

The Dickinson Golf and Yacht Club, located at FM 517 between 146 and Highway 3, came under new ownership in 2000 after 50 years. One of the oldest courses in the area, it’s surrounded by water with large, mature trees lining the fairways. With recent land acquisitions, the Club is now developing a 100-acre resort complex with 2,000 ft. of waterfront along beautiful Dickinson Bayou. The 10-12 feet deep channel leads into Galveston Bay, allowing access to large yachts.

Because you can get to the facility by car, yacht, jet ski, boat or RV, you can do something here that simply can’t be done anywhere else in Texas. Come by yacht, play golf, have a great meal, swim, enjoy the Jacuzzi, dance, spend the night at the dock (complete with electric and A/C, then do it all again the next day.

It’s a great weekend getaway for boaters and is only 15 minutes away from the Clear Lake area or Galveston and an hour or less by boat. And of course, this allows you to make it a day trip.

Or, launch your boat or jet ski at one of two large public ramps on the Bayou (Highway 3 or off 146) and stop in for lunch or dinner.

The new ownership took on an ambitious renovation of the facility, which had suffered over the previous several decades. Phase I is now near completion, which included the changing of the Club’s name to DGYC to better reflect the character and nature of the Club to you. The Bayou Bend Restaurant was added, which overlooks the golf course, ponds and fountains. Talented local chefs were hired, and a diverse 5-page menu was created to include charbroiled steaks, fresh seafood, Cajun, Mexican and Italian cuisine, as well as Tai chicken salad and an assortment of appetizers. Entrees are served fried, sautéed or grilled. Seasonal specials such as raw oysters, boiled peel and eat shrimp and crawfish, and there is also a children’s menu. A reasonably priced wine and champagne list is available, and the Club also offers several special drinks such as the Viper Venom or Oreo Cookie.

Bayou Bend is equipped with large screen televisions and a game room, which features shuffle board table, golf video games and darts. Attire is casual, but shoes are required. Men must wear shirts with sleeves. A “Cheers” style full bar with walnut trim sets the mood in Bayou Bend. It’s a great place to watch your favorite sporting events.

A huge covered and screened deck (Outback Deck Pub) was recently added. It overlooks the Bayou and new docks, and offers views of beautiful sunsets. The Pub has a unique rustic full bar (Viper Pit), which is perfect for outdoor waterfront dining and partying. The Deck and Pub include a high pressure misting system that helps you keep cool during the hot summer days. And, a Jacuzzi deck was recently added below the Outback Deck Pub. The Pub, where popular draft beers are served, is also equipped with televisions and great sound system. On weekend evenings or during the afternoon, bands typically are playing, which allows for more dancing, either in casual attire or bathing suits. Adjacent to the volleyball court is a large swimming pool with pool house and another covered deck area with service bar for parties.

The Outback Deck, complete with two fireplaces and gas heaters, is winterized for use during the offseason. The Club’s two full bars are open 7 days a week and the restaurant Tuesday through Sunday for lunch (11 a.m.) and late dining until 10 p.m.

In all, a unique, fun place has been created with lots of recreational activities in a beautiful, natural setting.

You can dine, be a spectator, or participate in a variety of activities.

No other single location offers this much.

The Club has already become a favorite location for those planning special events and private parties especially during the holiday season. The North Galveston Chamber of Commerce has held its Luau Party here. And, this spring, two Go Fast Boat fun runs to the Club have been held. TOPPS had its first fun run at the Club this year and Lance’s Turtle Club more recently had its Turtle and Hare fun run stop here as well. Nearly 30 boats and more than 150 people took part in the event. Many of the boats exceeded 50 ft. It was a great cruise from Clear Lake.

The golf course hasn’t been forgotten. All new course maintenance equipment has been acquired. More trees were planted. New golf carts were added. Bermuda fairways were brought back to shape. Deeper ponds were dug and greens improved. New cart paths are being added along with more fountains. More fairway bunkers are also in the plans. Simply put, the course is in the best shape of its 50-year history.

A new Pro Shop specializing in Taylor Made golf equipment has been added with prices often lower than at discount golf stores. The Pro Shop also offers DGYC Logo Golfing Apparel.

Tee times are not needed. Monday through Thursday, green fees and cart rentals are just $17.50 ($13.50 for seniors). On weekends, (Friday through Sunday and holidays) green fees plus cart rentals are just $29 with weekday rates after 2:30 p.m.

A Corporate Membership plan is also available, and there is a family VIP Golfing/Pool membership, which includes cart rentals for just $185 per month. Golfing members who own a cart may rent space in the Club’s cart barn at $50 per month or trail their cart for $25 a month.
